EMPIEMA PLEURAL EN EL INSTITUTO NACIONAL DEL TÓRAX (INT): CASO CLÍNICO Y REVISIÓN ACTUAL DE LA LITERATURA

Abstract
El objetivo de este artículo es relatar un caso de empiema pleural complicado observado en el Instituto Nacional del Tórax de La Paz Bolivia, en un paciente masculino de 21 años diagnosticado: Derrame Pleural Izquierdo, Trauma torácico Izquierdo, Contusión Pulmonar izquierdo, Hemoptisis de origen a determinar. El empiema pleural es una colección de pus en la cavidad pleural, es más común en niños, es más frecuente en los hombres y su incidencia es mayor en pacientes con antecedentes de alcoholismo, diabetes mellitus, artritis reumatoide y enfermedad pulmonar crónica. Además, se expondrá la fisiopatogenia y el tratamiento basado en el control de la infección por instalación de sistema pleural a sello de agua, y opciones quirúrgicas siendo abierta o por mínimamente invasiva por toracoscopía.
The objective of this article is to report a case of complicated pleural empyema observed in the National Thorax Institute of La Paz Bolivia, in a 21-year-old male patient diagnosed with left pleural effusion, left thoracic trauma, left pulmonary contusion, hemoptysis of origin to be determined. Pleural empyema is a collection of pus in the pleural cavity, is more common in children, is more common in men and its incidence is higher in patients with a history of alcoholism, diabetes mellitus, rheumatoid arthritis and chronic lung disease. In addition, the pathophysiology and treatment based on the control of the infection by installation of the pleural system to the water seal will be exposed, and surgical options will be open or minimally invasive by thoracoscopy.
