Financial Literacy and Education on Digital Platforms: A Systematic Review

Abstract

The present study aims to provide an overview based on existing literature related to business profitability and financial behavior through a bibliometric analysis of databases such as Scopus and Web of Science (WOS). This allowed for the identification and classification of the most relevant research based on journals, articles, authors, institutions, and countries. The study determines trends and maps using VOSviewer by analyzing 21,374 articles collected from the database. Co-occurrence analysis of keywords, co-citation, journals, and co-authorship were employed in the study. The results reveal the most prominent trends in terms of influence, the most prolific journals, articles, authors, topics, keywords, and countries. A content analysis was conducted using bibliographic coupling of documents to identify major themes in hierarchical clusters. The meta-analytic review of these studies was based on the PRISMA methodology, using co-citations and keyword co-occurrence to create a scientific mapping of the bibliographic material. The results, presented through density visualization of keyword analysis such as business profitability and financial behavior, showed a significant increase in the number of publications on the topic, reflecting the growing interest in the subject. The leading institutions in this field include universities in China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and India, standing out for their high scientific output and influence. These findings highlight opportunities for future research in this area. Received: 21 January 2025 / Accepted: 11 June 2025 / Published: 05 July 2025
