Estudio bibliométrico de la sección resultados de los trabajos especiales de grado de la Facultad de Odontología de la Universidad de Los Andes, 2009-2018

Abstract

The Faculty of Dentistry of the University of the Andes (FOULA) incorporates research as part of academic training, in it, the student prepares a Special Undergraduate Work (TEG) as a requirement to obtain his degree as a Dentist. The study of these works is carried out through bibliometric analyses. Currently, there have been no studies in the FOULA that are responsible for analyzing unique sections of TEG, therefore, this research aims to analyze the results section of the undergraduate TEG of FOULA 2009-2018, according to the type and design of research proposed. The research was correlated with a documentary design, 260 TEG were included. It was observed that the results analysis technique that prevailed was descriptive statistics alone in 59% of research, followed by the combination of descriptive and inferential statistics with 38%. Likewise, in the graphic tools used dominated the use of tables followed by bar charts, sector charts and photographs. The most commonly used statistical tests were Chi2, Student’s T-test and ANOVA. The authors conclude that it is vital to know the type of variables being studied, to use the correct statistical tools and thus assertively the presentation and understanding of the results. It is also necessary to validate and verify the parametric assumptions in the TEG and how different they would be if other statistical tests had been used.
