Abstract
Zoometry allows the evaluation of physical traits to optimize productivity, selection, genetics, and animal welfare. The objective of the present study was to validate the applicability of the Kinovea® (KV) software program for obtaining zoometric measurements in Holstein Friesian cows. The research was conducted using a quantitative, non-experimental, and descriptive approach. The medians of manual measurements were: AC 141.96 cm; AG 143.53 cm; DL 161.15 cm; DD 78.24 cm; LG 42.10 cm; LC 56.38 cm; and LDC 48.39 cm. Using KV, the measurements obtained were: AC 141.96 cm; AG 143.25 cm; DL 160.87 cm; DD 78.46 cm; LG 41.65 cm; LC 55.65 cm; and LDC 48.03 cm. It is concluded that the Kinovea® software is validated as a precise and reliable tool for obtaining zoometric measurements in Holstein Friesian cows, demonstrating statistical equivalence with traditional manual methods.
