Conocimiento preventivo de lesiones traumáticas dentarias en deportistas de contacto de un club privado peruano

Abstract
Objetivos: identificar el grado de conocimiento de prevención de lesiones dentarias traumáticas en deportistas de alto contacto de un centro privado peruano, enero 2022. Material y métodos: estudio transversal y descriptivo. Participaron 100 deportistas de alto impacto del centro Strike Sumisión Funcional CORNER (SSF CORNER) de Lima Perú. Se efectuó una encuesta virtual con la utilización de un instrumento, autoadministrado; el cual fue validado por juicio de expertos, el instrumento tuvo 20 interrogantes repartidas en 4 dimensiones: lesiones en tejido blando de la cavidad oral, fractura dental, movilidad dental y avulsión dental. Resultados: de la totalidad de encuestados, el 51,0% reportaron buen nivel de conocimiento; seguido del 37,0% que tuvo conocimiento aceptable. Además, el nivel bueno prevaleció en el género masculino con 53,1%. Adicionalmente, se distinguió el nivel bueno y aceptable, en el grupo de edad de 26-30 años con 56,3 % y 40,6% respectivamente. Se mostró un nivel bueno en la categoría amateur con 50,0%. Predominó un 53,0% del nivel bueno de conocimiento para movilidad dental y avulsión dental. Conclusiones: El grado de conocimiento de la prevención de las lesiones dentarias traumáticas en atletas de alto contacto de un centro privado peruano fue bueno en un 51,0%
Objective: to identify the level of knowledge of traumatic dental injury prevention among high-impact athletes at a private center in Peru, January 2022. Material and methods: Cross-sectional and descriptive study. One hundred high-impact athletes from the Strike Sumisión Funcional CORNER (SSF CORNER) center in Lima, Peru, participated. An online survey was conducted using a self-administered instrument, which was validated by expert opinion. The instrument had 20 questions divided into four dimensions: soft tissue injuries of the oral cavity, tooth fracture, tooth mobility, and tooth avulsion. Results: of the total number of respondents, 51.0% reported a good level of knowledge, followed by 37.0% who had acceptable knowledge. In addition, the good level prevailed in the male gender with 53.1%. Furthermore, good and acceptable levels were distinguished in the 26-30 age group, with 56.3% and 40.6%, respectively. A good level was shown in the amateur category with 50.0%. A good level of knowledge for dental mobility and dental avulsion predominated with 53.0%. Conclusions: the level of knowledge of the prevention of traumatic dental injuries in high-contact athletes at a private Peruvian center was good in 51.0% of cases.
