Abstract
Knowledge of dental development from its formation to its eruption in the mouth, it is very useful for dental clinical practice, as a basic instrument in the diagnosis, preparation of the treatment plan and as an indicator of pathologies. It is of great importance for specialties such as endodontics, the knowledge of the odontometry, specially the average length of the dental root, being a key factor for a successful treatment. Controversies exist between root lengths, various authors demonstrate this through standardized tables, for this reason, given the existing variations and that no recent studies have been found in Venezuela about the root lengths of this population, the root length of the permanent teeth extracted in the public and private dental care centers in the city of Merida was determined. For this study, 889 teeth collected between February and September 2017. Once the information has been obtained, descriptive statistical analysis was performed. The results achieved during the data collection phase are shown. Significant differences were found in ourstudy, finding longer lengths than reported in the literature, these differences can be attributed to the existing ethnic combinations in our population.
