Abstract

Due to the economic growth in the last decade, it is necessary to pay more attention to the environment. The environmental issue analysis, as consequence of an ecological crisis that has not been possible either to stop or to control, takes us to revise the economic and environmental concepts in order to achieve a production culture to respect and defend the environment. Consequently, several methodologies have arisen, some called of evaluation and others of valuation, that are presented in this paper whose main objective is to establish differences between them. The methodology of documental revision was used and it included bibliography, the works and investigations on the different methods of valuation of environmental impacts and evaluation methodologies, assuming the society concept as a system originated from the man-environment interrelationship, from which are derived several subsystems. The paper concludes that the methods of valuation constitute an additional criterion to being considered within the multicriteria methodology, while the evaluation methodologies don’t assume the commensurability of the socioenvironmental functions and introduce, therefore, different approaches for the analysis of the environmental aspects evaluation.
