La renovación del trabajo epidemiológico del componente bucal de la salud desde la epidemiología crítica
Abstract
Oral health is a component of the health-disease process that has not achieved structural changes in the conformation of the epidemiological profile required by the population. The present reflections are oriented towards the critical revision of the principles of the biologic-ecological paradigm that has sustained the epidemiological work in dentistry, to later advance in the discussion of the categories: levels of analysis, epidemiological profile, deep prevention and participatory monitoring in health, developed by critical epidemiology, from which a new configuration of the epidemiological object in dentistry can be formulated, supporting the formation of social subjects committed to the defense of health and life in the community. The epidemiological task that dentistry owes to society constitutes a convenient space for the construction and consolidation of the work proposed from critical epidemiology.
