Abstract
El artículo analiza dos expediciones geográficas del siglo XIX en Bolivia: la de Fermín Rivero en la frontera oriental (1846) y la de José Manuel Pando en el Noroeste (1892). El análisis de los diarios y reportes permite entrever a actores y elementos invisibilizados, como animales y objetos científicos, que jugaron un papel fundamental en la conformación y desarrollo de estos viajes de exploración y producción de conocimiento geográfico, que posteriormente serían utilizados para integrar estos territorios al espacio nacional.
This article analyzes two 19th-century geographical expeditions in Bolivia: Fermín Rivero's to the eastern border (1846) and José Manuel Pando's to the northwest (1892). The analysis of diaries and reports provides a glimpse into the invisible actors and elements, such as animals and scientific objects, who played a fundamental role in the formation and development of these voyages of exploration and the production of geographical knowledge that would later be used to integrate these territories into the national space.
