Abstract
This research focuses on Count Francesco Vespignani, a Roman architect renowned for his work for the Holy See and as a precursor of historicist movements in Rome. In 1884, he was commissioned by Pope Leo XIII to design the Cathedral of La Paz after the loss of the previous plans. The discovery of these drawings within the framework of this study opens the debate on the underlying historicist influence in the cathedral, which had not been previously considered. From a historical-architectural perspective, the study analyzes Vespignani's Neo-Renaissance contribution, his influence on subsequent architects, and the way in which this imprint was ultimately assimilated into the constructed cathedral.
