Abstract
El impulso del turismo deportivo en un destino turistico depende del planteamiento de estrategias innovadoras para tal fin. El presente trabajo tuvo por objetivo diagnosticar la actividad del turismo deportivo en la Zona del Mocoties del estado Merida, como paso previo a la identificacion de los servicios turisticos-deportivos que podrian ofertarse y a la conformacion de una red empresarial sustentada en un analisis del entorno turistico, deportivo y de los servicios turistico deportivos de la zona. Se identifican carencias de planes que promuevan el desarrollo de esta modalidad de turismo, para lo cual existe un entorno favorable para servicios innovadores, que eleven la calidad de vida de la poblacion y la satisfaccion de las expectativas de los turistas deportivos. Considerando las rutas turisticas existentes en la zona, demarcadas por sus atractivos naturales e historicos-culturales, es recomendable la organizacion y patrocinio de eventos deportivos en modalidades como el ciclismo de montana, el senderismo - excursiones, y la escalada, en combinacion con el turismo vacacional, tradicional de la zona, con miras a satisfacer varios segmentos del mercado turistico deportivo (deportistas extremos, atletas de alto rendimiento, aficionados y espectadores). Abstract The promotion of sports tourism in a tourist destination depends on the approach of innovative strategies for this purpose. The purpose of this work was to diagnose the activity of sports tourism in the Mocoties Zone of the state of Merida, as a previous step to the identification of tourism-sports services that could be offered and the formation of a business network based on an analysis of the tourism environment , sports and sports tourism services in the area. Lack of plans that promote the development of this type of tourism are identified, for which there is a favorable environment for innovative services, which raise the quality of life of the population and the satisfaction of the expectations of sports tourists. Considering the existing tourist routes in the area, demarcated by its natural and historical-cultural attractions, it is advisable to organize and sponsor sporting events in modalities such as mountain biking, hiking - excursions, and climbing, in combination with tourism holiday, traditional in the area, with a view to satisfying various segments of the sports tourism market (extreme athletes, high performance athletes, fans and spectators).
