Configuración económica de la industria farmacéutica

Abstract

This article is intended to specify the variable that compose the pharmaceutical industry. This sector presents sui generis characteristics regarding other sectors and the low academic production justify the develop of investigations directed at distinguish this industry and support the knowledge production. Elements like market failures, differentiation, state intervention, distribution channel, competitiveness associated with the patent expiration, incorporation of generic drugs and the prescription control interest and dispensing are fundamentals on the theoretical configuration of this particular economic sector. A wide-ranging bibliographic review was made , and from the analysis of the different variable studied it is concluded that knowing the particulars characteristics of the pharmaceutical industry and the agents that involved on the distribution channel are key elements to search the bussines’s area.
