Abstract

This paper delves into Antonio Millán-Puelles’s philosophy of higher education and discusses his thoughts in light of some of the problems occurring today at this level of education. The increasing commercialization of culture has permeated current education and has focused more on the processes than in the outcome. This is especially evident in the university level, where the educational interests - knowledge, truth, freedom, and training - have been replaced by commercial interests - utility, efficiency, marketing and profitability-, a phenomenon that requires a critical reflection from a philosophical perspective that respects both the identity and the current society demands on universities.
