Importancia de la revista medula y su política no escrita
Abstract
The journal MedULA is an important intellectual patrimony of the Medicine Faculty and is its official divulgation journal. MedULA was awarded the second place in the CONICYT (now FONACYT) evaluation of all the University of The Andes (ULA) journals. The Academic Vicerrectorship evaluated (2005 and 2006) the most read ULA journals in internet and MedULa was respectively second and fourth place, it also had the first place in thw most read paper in internet (about Blastocystis hominis) as well as the first place as the most read author (Pedro J. Salinas) in internet. MedULa is indexed in Ulrich’s, Lilacs, Bireme, Doaj, Latindex, Periodica (UNAM), Asereme, Revencyt, Portales-Medicos.com, Monografias.com, Index Medicus. MedULA has exchange agreements with many of the journals received in the Faculty of Medicine Library (read by ULA students as well as other people from Merida and places in Venezuela). MedULA has a great national and international acceptation. The most important feature is its accessibility for all persons to publish, without other requirement than the favourable opinion of the peer reviewers in relation to the scientific quality of the papers. The teaching about scientific writing is achieved by MedULA in a discrete way according to the behaviour of an academic publication. The manuscripts are evaluated by reviewers specialists in the subject. Internally, the members of the Editorial Board had agreed not to be reviewers of the received papers. The evaluation is double blind (the reviewers do not know who are the authors and the authors do not know who the reviewers are).
