Abstract
Se estudió el afrontamiento al estrés en cuidadores primarios de niños con autismo, ya que, al ser una actividad exigente, genera grandes esfuerzos y desgaste emocional, de ahí que la forma de cómo responda a las demandas, será pieza clave para conocer los estilos y estrategias de afrontamiento. Por lo tanto, se tuvo como objetivos identificar los estilos de afrontamiento al estrés en cuidadores primarios de niños con autismo, así como los estilos de afrontamiento al estrés en cuidadores según sexo; y las estrategias más utilizadas por los mismos. El diseño de estudio fue no experimental, de tipo descriptivo. La población estuvo conformada por 100 personas, se utilizó el Inventario Multidimensional de Estimación del Afrontamiento COPE. Se obtuvo como resultados que los cuidadores de ambos sexos, utilizan el estilo de afrontamiento enfocado en la emoción y el estilo enfocado en el problema; dos de las estrategias más utilizadas son reinterpretación positiva - crecimiento y la aceptación. Se concluyó que los cuidadores, depende de las circunstancias, optan por el estilo enfocado en la emoción y el estilo enfocado en el problema; muy pocas veces, emplean otros estilos de afrontamiento.
Coping with stress was studied in primary caregivers of children with autism, since, being a demanding activity, it generates great efforts and emotional wear and tear, hence the way in which it responds to the demands, will be a key piece to know the styles and coping strategies. Therefore, the objective was to identify the styles of coping with stress in primary caregivers of children with autism, as well as the styles of coping with stress in caregivers according to sex; and the strategies most used by themselves. Study´s design was not experimental, though it´s of type descriptive. The population was made up by 100 people; the Multidimensional Inventory of Coping Estimation COPE was applied. So that, it was obtained the results more precisely that caregivers of both sexes use the focused coping and the emotion and the focused style pointing to the problem; two of the most widely used strategies are positive reinterpretation - growth and acceptance. Thereby, it was concluded that caregivers, depend on the circumstances and they opt for the style focused in the emotion and the style focused on the problem; rarely they use other coping styles.
