Abstract
The culmination of university studies through a thesis synthesizes disciplinary, methodological, and academic writing competencies and serves as a graduation requirement in the Peruvian system. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between research culture and the intention to write a thesis among students at a national university in Metropolitan Lima. The sample consisted of 50 students. Two instruments with validity and reliability were applied. The design was descriptive-correlational, with a quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional approach. The findings show a direct and highly significant association between research culture and the intention to write a thesis (r = 0.84; p = 0.001). At the dimensional level, institutional responsibility (r = 0.81; p < 0.01) and student responsibility (r = 0.80; p < 0.01) exhibit high and significant correlations. It is concluded that strengthening the research culture through institutional policies and personal commitments increases the willingness and persistence to complete thesis work.
